I like the looks of this!
Check out the new Allez Double Steel from Specialized. I think there has been a serious lacking of decent steel go-fast race geometry bikes out there. MSRP being $610 USD, it looks like a sweet option. I loved my Allez and I think with my reverting to the way of old, steel frames, I'd love this one too. Nice to see.

New record for the ride home. 1hr, 15 minutes! It was only a few weeks ago it took me close to two hours to get to work. The way home is way more downhill, but I did have a little headwind today. Average speed: 19.6mph. Yeah. Oddly enough, it was on the bike I've been trying to get rod of, me Allez. Glad it didn't sell.
Cheers.

She Shall Stay
I've tried to sell this bike, but it's not moving. I put it up n Kijiji and have had no where near the success I had with selling other bikes there. I've only had offers up to $200! Are you nuts? I think a decent entry level road bike in mint condition would be worth more than $200. Besides, once the weather changes and the roads clear, I'm sure I'll be getting out on it even more. It's also hard to sell a bike that I bought brand new and choose out of many other bikes in the LBS's and after test ride and test ride, I bought this one, because it fit me best.Wednesday, April 23, 2008
2006 Specialized Allez for Sale
UPDATE: In a last ditch effort to sell this bike, price reduced to $1000.00.It's a 2006 56cm Allez Comp Gerolsteiner Edition
Shimano 105 Groupo
Carbon seat stays, carbon fork with full carbon steerer and carbon seat post. Fork, stays and seat post have Zertz elastomer inserts to help kill road buzz.
Mavic Aksium Mavic Racing wheels with aero (flat) 14 ga spokes
The bike has less than 800miles on it and is in excellent condition. I bought this bike new and have babied it like crazy. Pedals, and seat bag not included with the bike.
I paid $1950.00 for this bike and I am asking $1150.00
I have no clue what shipping would cost, but if you are interested, let me know and I'll give you the cost. Unlike the wonderful world of eBay, shipping charges to you will be the shipping charges that show up on the package. No fees on my end.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments. JeromebikeATgmailDOTcom.

Thank you Ebay
Finally some parts I bought on Ebay arrived. Nothing too exciting, a Nitto stem that's slated to make my Bianchi a little more comfy, and a Park Took SP-8 free-wheel tool. I've got a few wheel sets that I want to convert to fixed (I've actually had decent luck with a track cog and a BB locking ring) and single speeds.

Thanks to the recycle yard for these pedals. I don't know what brand they are, but they spin super smooth and I think they look cool. I don't have a bike for these to go on yet, but I'm sure they'll top off a future project quite nicely.
Yesterday's hot ride home was great. I don't have a computer on my Allez but with a strong tail wind and the down-hill part of the steepest hill on my route, I must have been doing at least 70 or 80 kms. Cars passed slowly. You sure do notice how twitchy a bike is at speeds like that.
The ride in this morning was once again fantastic. This is from this morning. It hits home that summer is well under way when the farmers are taking the first hay crop off.

PR
I checked out what my Garmin told (just before it gave up the ghost) and Rockyford is 500ft lower in elevation than Strathmore. I knew my ride to work was more uphill, and home down, but 500ft is quite a difference.
Nice tail wind and down hill make for a quick ride home. 1hr 15 minutes for the 26 mile trip, including the time taken to snap a few pics and grab some aqua from my pack.
I flipped my stem upside down, and the inch or two higher on the bars sure make for a much more comfortable ride. I'm really beginning to enjoy my Allez.
Cheers.
