Contest: First Ever

Update: Hey everyone, thanks so much for the great names that have come in. The response has been overwhelming. So many great names, I wish I had more bikes. I'm going to leave this open until mid next week. At that time we'll close the idea box and make I'll make my choice and announce it here. I'll also list all the names that came in. Obviously the winner will be contacted and I will gather necessary information to get the prize shipped off. Again, thanks so much for the response. The creativity of the names blows my mind. First ever contest for Jerome’s Bike Blog! Oh boy, this is big. I'm looking to find a name for my Xtracycle version 3.0, and nothing has come to me. When this bike was posted on the Xtracycle gallery, it was mentioned that I was looking for a name. That generated 2 responses. Now, maybe with a little more at stake, I might just get some ideas.

You can have your choice of 1 of 3 brand new SIGG water bottles. One is the classic Swiss Logo Sigg. One is the new “wide mouth” Sigg, and one is the sports bottle. You get your choice of one of these bottles, and I will mail it to you, anywhere in the continental US and Canada.

So, give me your ideas of what you think this bike should be named. I’ll choose the winner based on which one strikes a cord with me, and that name will become the name of my Xtra V3.0.

Siggs Arrive!

I received my little care package from Sigg while I was in South America.

The wide mouth looks very interesting. I live the idea of being able to add ice, and it should also be easier for mixing up energy drinks and whatnot.

The middle is the same classic Sigg style, the same as the one that was in question.

And, a new sport bottle that will fit into cycling water bottle cages.

I also received some cleaning tablets and a cleaning brush. The big thing I noticed is that the cardboard rings on the top of the bottles now say that they are dishwasher safe. When I bought my other Siggs, it came with recommendation to not use the dishwasher. This obviously was quite inconvenient, and I'm not sure if they now use a different lining making them dishwasher safe, or if testing has proved them to indeed be dishwasher safe. Either way, this alone should make a huge difference in using the Sigg water bottle.

Now, I just need to get off my but (I do have the excuse that I've been out of the continent though) and get mine sent in for testing. I'll keep ya posted.

When do you think they're gonna recall this one?

For years I've carried my trusty Nalgene everywhere and drank liters and liters upon hundreds of liters from it. What a great little bottle. I've been able to keep track my Nalgene for about 4 years. Same bottle, never let me down, stood up to anything. In the last month I finally broke down and put a sticker on it! Only to find out that it could be giving me cancer. Damn it.

So I picked up this SIGG water bottle. While I was looking for a Kleen Kanteen, I settled for the SIGG after learning that it has an organic *indestructible* coating on the inside to keep the water tasting pure and obviously keep it away from the aluminum (which also causes cancer).

Now that I've used this SIGG, I am absolutely amazed at how fresh the water tastes! I had some water left over for 1 day at room temperature and it didn't taste bad at all! Very, very effective. Very expensive also. This little bottle cost me $25. I think that's comparable with the Kleen Kanteen, which I still want to try. Now I'll be hunting down a sport top to make sipping on the go easier.
