6.18miles in 54 minutes
What a great run. Much easier to control a steady effort on foot than on fixed with hills. Variety is nice.

Lunch Time Run
I went for the first run since my marathon weekend. A nice easy 4.5 miles. Felt great. I think I finished up those races without injury, so that's always a bonus.
I'm thinking about alternating between cycling and running for my lunch time routine. It's easier to get a consistent work out regardless of weather conditions when you're running than it is cycling. But cycling is more fun and much less impact. Combining the two should make for a decent training regiment.

Marathon is Done
Well, this was a little weekend that's been haunting me for some time. 1/2 Marathon yesterday, full marathon today. Disney Worlds Marathon Weekend Goofy race and a half challenge. The reason for the haunting? I didn't train. In the past 2 years, I've ran less than 100 miles. Based on a training plan I've done for my previous 3 marathons, I should be racking over 100 miles in less than 2 weeks. In the past 6 weeks I've ran 14 miles. I was incredibly under prepared. I thought I might not even make it. Odd thing, this was the easiest marathon I've ever done. I would attribute it mostly with my incredibly slow pace.My time for the half: 2:04
Marathon Time: 5:04
Not fast, but not bad for someone who didn't train. I am glad that this is over with though.
When you do the goofy, you get the Donald medal for the half, Micky medal for the full, and the goofy medal for doing them one after another. That was the best part of it. Walking around the cool down area with both medals on today.
It sure feels good when you stop running.

Winter Running
I went for an nice 6 miler at lunch today. It was a good run. I do like running in the cold much more than in the warm. Somehow, it seems more like an epic adventure than an exercise routine. All the people driving by in their cars starring, snow crunching beneath my feet, icicles building up on my head. I feel like I’m beating old man winter when I run in the cold. Most folks stay inside as much as possible and avoid being outdoors when it's very cold outside. I understand that. Until you are outside in the cold, and realize that you can stay warm and comfortable, inside does seem like the place to be. While it wasn’t all that cold today, it was just nice. -12C when I left the office. Large heavy snow flakes coming down the whole time.
Staying warm running is so much easier than while riding a bike. I simply wore warm running socks and my regular heavily-ventilated Asics Gel Keyano’s, and even running through about a mile of almost knee-deep snow, my feet were as comfortable as could be. I ended up unzipping my jacket when I was running with the wind, just to let out some of the heat and not build up too much moisture on the inside. Then, turn into the wind and zip it back up. What a great way to spend the lunch hour.

1st Snow
First snow of the year here in the big R. I ran 10 great miles today. Running in cold snowy weather is my favorite type of running.
Molly had her first experience with snow. It was funny to see her constantly jumping when I let her out of the garage. Now though, I think she likes it.

Lunch Run
Not a run to get food, an actual run. 5 miles.
I've got to start getting in shape for the goofy challenge I'm doing in January. Why not start a running blog huh? Just so much harder to carry a camera when you're running than on a bike. Oh well, much of my energy will go to training for the 1/2 marathon followed the next day the full marathon that make up the goofy challenge. Still, bikes will remain #1.
Cheers.

Running in the Mountains
Last weekend in Banff. Work like mad all week. Play hockey. Sleep.
I've officially started my marathon training again. I'll be doing the Calgary Full Marathon for the fourth time in July. Next January I'll be doing the goofy challenge in Florida. 1/2 marathon on Saturday, followed by the full marathon on Sunday. Yeah, that sounds goofy. My dad signed me up, what could I do?
I had a great run up in Banff last Sat. 7 miles, -27C light snow. Man I love running in the winter.
Off for some camping this weekend. Cheers.
